We lost our dog Bear yesterday…….

We have had Bear for 2 1/2 years. He has been a big part of our family since the day we brought him home from the Animal Shelter. He was a huge loveable dog. My  grandchildren loved him. We had gone shopping and when we came home he was not acting right,he suddenly became sick and my husband and I were trying to get him in the back of our blazer. He couldn’t stand up and as we stood there trying to help him he took his last breath. From what we were able to tell the Vet he thinks he may have had Bloat. We couldn’t afford to have an autopsy done, so we won’t ever know for sure. With all of the trouble we had recently with people coming on our property and undoing his chain, emptying his water etc. the first thing we thought of was someone poisoned him. My husband called the Sheriff who in turn called Animal Control. Animal control seems to agree with the vet. I will try to think in my heart he died of bloat instead of thinking someone would really be cruel enough to poison him.

Last night after I finally ate dinner is wasn’t a good dinner, I ate pizza with my husband. Today is a new day. I bought me all good foods when I was shopping.

I hope everyone has a good week!

Big HUGS!

It’s so hard to say goodbye to a friend, furry or not…. our pets are children of our hearts. I do believe all dogs go to Heaven.

oh Bette Jo, I am so sorry to hear about Bear. You were just telling me about what a great dog Bear is. I was telling you about Heidi. Bear was very lucky to have you the last 2 1/2 years of his life. God had a plan for bear and you making him happy for the last 2 1/2 years was a part of it. ((BIG HUGS)) to you Bette Joe.
Hang in there. It was really good of you to go to the store and get back on track. That is what Bear would want you to do….. BE HAPPY!!

I am truly so sorry to hear about this. I had a good old dog, an akita named Buddy who lived to be 16 years old, who got bloat. I had to have him put to sleep because the vet didn’t think he’d make it through surgery due to his old age. He was so frail. He was suffering so badly because the bloat is so painful. :( It is never easy saying goodbye to our beloved pets, and my heart goes out to you. ***hugs***

Oh! Bette Jo I am so sorry you lost Bear. Isn’t it something how attached we get to our animals? They really do become part of the family. Although I have never had a dog I have had many cats that went to heaven too! ((((BETTE JO))))

oh, i am so sorry that you lost your bear. i am glad you could be with him. a friend’s dog died recently of bloat as well. it sounds very similar. my dog is my first kid, my big buddy, and one of the greatest loves of my life - i send you big giant hugs (and even licks ;) )

SO, so sorry for your loss. The part about not knowing how he passed could be so nagging! I hope you are able to find some more peace with it eventually. I had a dog poisoned once, and it seemed like a very different scenerio than the one you are describing. Maybe there is comfort in that as well. Big, furry, panting, slobbery doggie Bear hugs to you.

Bette Jo, sorry to hear of this tragedy! I am a dog lover myself and have three dogs and truly would feel the same way you do ! I lost my cat Melody in April to an accidental poisoning from my nine year old son so I know what you mean ! I am here for you ! Hugs, Kimmi
