Going to hell in a handbasket…..
I got that saying from my mother! I am so sick of trying to rob Peter to pay Paul! Another one I got from my mother! I got so behind on bills while I was off work for a month and half to have surgery. I have been back to work for 3 weeks and slowly catching up. Then I remember I never got an electric bill. Our mailbox got hit by a plow and it was probably in there. Then my mother in laws passing. Things were such a turmoil. I am a couple days past due on my electic bill and I called to ask for a couple weeks to pay it and the woman was so rude. She told me she was sorry but she couldn’t help me! I have until Friday to pay it. She told me you wouldn’t be able to go to the grocery store and get groceries and pay for them in two weeks. She then told me to go to Social Services and get help. I told her we don’t qualify, I want to pay my bill but with so much going on I can’t do it! She just kept telling me she was sorry but she couldn’t help me! Grrrrrrrrrr!! I am getting so tired of trying and getting the door slammed in my face. I just needed to vent before I eat everything in the fridge. Good thing is when I pay my electric bill next week I won’t be buying much groceries so there won’t be much to snack on, right!
I am almost done, doing taxes so then I will have more time on here.

You usually end up with someone rude on your first try, I would call back and request someone else. With these hard times they should have some provision, especially since you gave them a timeframe when you could pay. Sorry for your loss of a loved one but kudos on the loss of your weight.
Maybe you can call back and ask for a supervisor, or go there in person. Saying no to your face is a lot harder.
I try to joke and feel better when I am near broke and say that I am on the Stress and Poverty Diet!
Awe, I’m sorry to hear how unaccommodating they were at the electric company. I agree with MJ, maybe speak to a supervisor.
Sometimes we do seem to live in such a heartless society where there is no room for understanding or exceptions.
You can get through this though and you will. I might be tough, it’s going to be rocky and challenging, but you will get through!
Oh Bette Jo, I’m so sorry. I’ve dealt with rude, heartless people like that before, and it just makes things harder.

I’m going along with everyone else..either call back and see if you get someone nicer or ask for a superviser/manager or go there in person. If you got the name of the person you spoke with who said that about buying etc and paying for it in two I would let the supervisor know just how rude of a comment that was. That is not good customer service. Eventually somewhere down this long line everything will work itself out.

I feel your pain hon. I got socked with a $300 electric bill this month. It was a shock considering they are usually between 50 and 75 bucks! They couldn’t help me either.

Sorry hun, that you have to go thru such hard times right now. I would call back and ask for a supervisor. They can always do more for you then they tell you at first. Hope everything works out for you. Good Luck!
